Police Detains Osun East Senatorial Candidate for APC Over Alleged Unlawful Possession of Fire Arms, Aiding and Abetting

The candidate of the All Progressive Congress, APC for Osun East Senatorial election Engr Ajibola Famurewa has been detained by the Force Criminal Investigation and intelligence Department, Alagbon Lagos for  alleged unlawful possession of ammunition,  fire arms, aiding and abetting.

Engr Famurewa was invited by the police in connection with the above allegation when a political thug , Afolabi Fadahunsi popularly known as Carlos, who was arrested in Osogbo following a petition by an identified  person, indicted him as his sponsor.

The two-term representative of ijesa South Federal Constituency was subsequently detained and his house round sacked this afternoon.

Speaking on the development, the senior aide to Engr Famurewa, Mr Akinyele Akintola said the detention of his principal is more political than ordinary, expressing the strong belief that he will surmount  the mountain

He said Famurewa is being witch hunted by his political opponent , stressing that the suspect who implicated him was only acting the  script of his pay master in the ruling party.

Reacting, the senator representing Ife-Ijesa Senatorial District in the senate , senator Adenigba Fadahunsi said Carlos has never been  a member of PDP and that he does not know him from Adam, noting that it was Engr Famurewa that petitioned the police about the suspect who now turned him in.

Senator Fadahunsi described the allegation that he was the one who sponsored Carlos to turn Famurewa in as laughable.

Effort to speak with the Osun East APC senatorial  candidate as at the time of filing this report is abortive.

Confirming the incident, Osun state Police Public Relations Officer,Mrs Yemisi Opalola said investigation is still ongoing on the matter.

GROUP ENDORSES SANYAN OMIRIN AND WOLE OKE FOR 2023 PARLIAMENTARY ELECTION

Ijesa Community in Abuja has Endorsed chief Sanya Omirin and mr Busayo Oluwole  Oke   of People’s Democratic Party ,  For Ijesa South and Ijesa North Federal Constituencies .

The Ijesa Community in Abuja, under the banner of the Council of Egbe Omo Obokun Abuja announced the endorsement in a statement made available  by the president, Mr Ade- Omotosho Austen and the secretary, mr Adeyemi Boluwalife.

The statement notes that the group has felt their  impact, pragmatism and intelligence. 

According to the statement, chief  Omirin and mr Oke have demonstrated virtuous characters and positive visions for the people of Ijesa South and Ijesa North Federal Constituencies respectively.

"Apart from the fact that Hon. Emmanuel Sanya Omirin & Hon. Busayo Wole Oke are  business men , grass roots politicians , philanthropists , we have felt their  impact, pragmatism and intelligence. They  have  displayed the right attitude and spirit of competence, promise keeping and efficient positive leadership.

Hon. Omirin and Hon. Oke have demonstrated character and vision for the people of Ijesa South &  North Federal Constituencies  in Osun State and Ijesa in diaspora ; we have resolved to mobilize our people back home in tumultuous numbers to unanimously ensure their  resounding  victory back to the House of Representatives".

The statement lauds the PDP candidates  for their commitment  to developmental initiatives, such as poverty alleviation programmes including wealth creation and distribution; establishment of the largest cocoa plantation in Ijesaland  and  assures the resolve of the group  to embark on door- to- door enlightenment campaign programmes  to ascertain their victory in the polls

It states that Chief Omirin has really established strong and steady friendship with his people and deserves their support , describing his counterpart Mr  Wole Oke as  a known absolutely dedicated political material; devoted, pragmatic and  focused.

"Also,having convincingly noted that Hon. Emmanuel Sanya Omirin detests alienating the people of Ijesa South Federal Constituency in Osun State, and has really established strong and steady friendship with his people, it is only fair and proper at this critical stage to unrestrainedly pitch our political tent with him.

Hon. Wole Oke is a known absolutely dedicated political material; devoted, pragmatic and ebulliently focused.Therefore, we are passionately appealing to the Ijesa nation to queue resiliently behind Hon. Wole Oke just as we will do for Hon. Sanya Omirin"

It urged the ijesas to queue resiliently behind them in the forthcoming general election for dividends of democracy.
