Two chieftains and former local governments chairmen on the platform
of the APC, Mr Femi Kujembola and Mr Lanre Balogun describe the election as peaceful
and transparent,.
Mr Kujembola who was the chairman of Atakumosa East Local
Government Area and Mr Balogun of Ilesa East Local Government Area lauded the
Electorate for their comportment and peaceful conduct while performing their
franchise.
On their own part, two former local government chairmen under
the umbrella of PDP, chief Sanya Omirin and Mr Ibukun Fadipe opposed the election,
saying it negates the democratic norms and values as well as contravenes the amended electoral act, 2022.
Chief Omirìn and Mr Fadipe expressed belief in the judiciary for redress as the notice for the election by the state Independent
Electoral Commission was not up to the stipulated period in the newly amended electoral
law.
An OSIEC returning officer at ward 5 unit 4, Sumuratu
primary school, ilala road, Ilesa, Mr Oyegunju Aliu and his counterpart from Ward
7 unit 6, Mrs Grace Adereti said there were no hiccups as electoral materials
were deployed as scheduled.
Reports indicates that in spite of the fact that the
election was peaceful and transparent, it was also characterized by vote apathy
and boycott by other political parties in the state
