Osun LG poll: 69 Candidates for the APC Council Chairmanship and 393 Councilor Positions Receive Certificates of Return

The Osun State Independent Electoral Commission has recognised the 393 councillor candidates and 69 chairman candidates of the state’s ruling All Progressives Congress as winners of the local government election that took place on Saturday.

They are expected to represent seven area councils, 32 local council development authorities, and 30 local government regions.

The election results were released on Sunday in Osogbo, the state capital, by Segun Oladitan, the OSIEC chairman.

During the event, which took place on the commission’s grounds, Oladitan also gave Certificates of Return to the elected council chairs.

He said that all 393 of the APC’s candidates were returned to office without opposition, while the chairman was lawfully chosen by a Yes or No vote.

“Having completed the provisions of the Electoral Act of 2022, the Law of Osun State Independent Electoral Commission, 2022, and the Constitution of the federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended),” he stated.

Oladitan stated that the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission 2022 Act’s Section 35 was followed in issuing Certificates of Returns and declaring winners.

Some of the chairmen, including Hon. Yera Elugbaju, Hon. Adebiyi Adedayo, and Hon. Maruf Ogundipe, vowed that they would not take the confidence placed in them for granted while also asking for support from the populace to ensure the success of the administration.
