To say that securing the health of the citizenry is a collective responsibility is to say the obvious. To up the lifespan of an w Nigerian especially, the vulnerable is dependent on Public Private Partnership in the health sector.
In view of the aforementioned, a non- Government Organization in Ilesa, Osun State known as Friends of Wesley Guild Hospital, Ilesa rose to the assistance of the hospital to overcome the problem of epileptic power supply militating against its smooth operation by donating a solar energy equipment valued at about 6 million naira to its central laboratory.
The governor of the group , professor Lamikanra stated that the gesture aimed at ensuring constant supply of electrify to the laboratory to make the unit to be fully operational round the clock.
Professor Lamikanra hinted that original intention of the group was to provide the hospital with a well equipped accident and Emergency. Unit.
He said the group had to shelve the idea due to lack of space on the hospital premises and paucity of funds.
“There are however areas within which we can be useful which is why we are bringing our group to the attention of people who may be interested in what we are doing and would like to be part of it.” he said.
Professor Lamikanra averred that Ijesas are noted for their public spirit and appealed to the non-Ijesas who want to be part of the intervention program to join queue.
Receiving the equipment on behalf of the management of Wesley Guild Hospital, the Chief Medical Director, Obafemi Awolowo Teaching Hospital , professor Adetiloye thanked members of the Group of Friends of Wesley for the gesture , noting that Ijesas have remained the strong pillar of the hospital from inception.
He lauded the patriotic Ijesa citizens for showing keen interest in social and economic welfare of their people urging other stakeholders to borrow a leaf from them .
Reports say the Solar energy equipment is capable of powering 80 percentage of the central laboratory equipment that are germane to rescue op.erations during emergencies .
