The palace of Owa Obokun Adimula of Ijesaland hereby disassociates itself from a letter purportedly written by one Olayinka Ogunkeye soliciting funds from members of the public under the guise of organizing an Owa Obokun Athletic Competition and Award.

The so-called competition and award is said to be in conjunction with the Athletic Federation of Nigeria, The National Sports Commission Zone One headquarters, Oba Femi Awolowo Stadium Ibadan.

A statement by the Palace Chief of Staff, Barrister Lady Dupe Ajayi-Gbadebo, indicates that Owa Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, Owa Obokun Adimula and Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland has not at any time authorised the competition, nor did he give his consent to any funds solicitation from the public.

It adds that the Palace has well-structured committees responsible for various tasks including sports, culture and youth development.

The palace advises the general public to verify any information concerning the palace through the Palace Secretariat to avoid falling victim to unscrupulous elements who want to use the institution of the palace.
