The teaching profession serves as a gateway to success in life, aligning with religious doctrines, and thus necessitates appreciation for tutors who impart knowledge.
This is the submission of some keynote speakers at the 2026 Teachers Appreciatiogn Award, organized by Olaleye Ajanaku Foundation in conjunction with DDI, a non-governmental organization.
The Osun State Commissioner for Education, Mr. Eluwole Adedipo, who was represented by the Ijesa Zonal Inspector of Education, Mrs., commended the organizers, stating that the gesture is unprecedented in Osun’s education sector.
The commissioner disparaged the conventional wisdom that teachers’ reward is in heaven, stating that the organizers’ gesture has proven the maxim false.
The sponsor, Mr. Olaleye Ajanaku, urged the awardees to redouble their efforts to improve the standard of education in the state, with the ultimate goal of providing high-quality education that prepares students for the competitive job market.
Mr. Ajanaku observed that the awardees were selected through a rigorous nomination process by students, conducted by experts to ensure transparency and prevent favoritism and nepotism.
The Chief Executive Officer of DDI, Pastor Segun Oduyebo, disclosed that the Ajanaku Foundation, in collaboration with DDI, is currently sponsoring the education of 20 secondary school students, including registration for WAEC and NECO examinations.
Pastor Oduyebo expressed his appreciation to the donor, who also empowered over 50 small-scale business entrepreneurs and distributed food to others.
Mrs. Olubukola emerged as the third-best overall teacher in Osun State and received a cash prize of 100,000 naira; Mr. Oyedokun Wakeel Babatunde secured the second position and was awarded 150,000 naira, while Mr. Oladepo S.O. was recognized as the overall best teacher in the state, receiving a cash prize of 200,000 naira.
The best three teachers from each of the 6 zones of the state went home with 50,000 naira.
