ADELEKE REACTS TO FORENSIC AUDIT REPORT THAT REVEALS 8,452 GHOST WORKERS IN OSUN STATE, WITH ₦13 BILLION PAID ANNUALLY TO NON-EXISTENT EMPLOYEES.
In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the Governor said the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission , EFCC, and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) are at liberty to review the audit report in its entirety.
Governor Adeleke explained that the payroll and personnel records being reviewed were inherited from the administration of his predecessor, former Governor Gboyega Oyetola.
He stressed that his administration neither expanded nor altered the personnel and payroll structure it met on ground.
The Governor further stated that his administration deserves commendation for rejecting recommendations by the consultant that would have resulted in the disengagement of legitimate workers for what he described as the consultant’s personal gain.
He added that the government acted to prevent potential fraud while still pursuing efforts to clean up the system.
It will be recalled that legal counsel to the Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Sally Tibbot Consulting Limited, Sa’daat A. Bakrin-Ottu, Mr. Jiti Ogunye had at a press conference in Lagos presented details of the audit.
Mr. Ogunye revealed that a forensic audit conducted by the firm uncovered 8,452 ghost workers in the Osun State civil service, with over ₦13 billion allegedly paid annually to non-existent employees.
